History of Rohingya and Arakan
Rohingyas have been living in Arakan, western part of Myanmar/Burma from time immemorial. They are a people with distinct culture and civilization of their own.
But the military regime of Myanmar/Burma took away their citizenship in 1982 and become victims of political oppression, economic exploitation and cultural slavery in their ancestral land-Arakan.
This includes severe restrictions on freedom of movement; various forms of extortion and arbitrary taxation; land confiscation and forced evictions; restricted to access medication, restricted to access education, food and adequate housing; forced labor; restrictions on marriages.
In 2016 and 2017, Myanmar security forces have in collaboration with the local Rakhine Buddhists carried out genocide against Rohingya which is later
recognized by US government and United Nations.
As a consequence, more than a million Rohingya have fled to neighboring countries, mostly in Bangladesh. Again in 2024, the second round of genocide against remaining Rohingya is carried out by the AA and ULA, the Rakhine Buddhist armed groups.

World. Human Rights groups consider them the group to likely become extinct.
